Distrikt of Lake Michigun
Stage Left Theatre, the second-oldest ensemble-based theatre company in Chicago, is pleased to announce its spring 2025 production of The Distrikt of Lake Michigun: A Most Lamentable Comedy and Most Ridiculous Tragedy (and also completely factual and also true). Written by Stage Left ensemble member Stephanie Murphy and directed by ensemble member Seth Wilson, this new play is the outrageous (mostly) true story of George Streeter, one of the most famous rogues in the history of the Windy City. It chronicles how Streeterville began as the get-rich-quick scheme of a fast-talking con man and invites questions about how now, home to some of the most expensive real estate in the city, things might not be as different as we might hope.
Please note that there is colorful language and saucy suggestive situations and we suggest this is for adults only.

The Cast
The staggeringly talented cast of Distrikt of Lake Michigun
Name: Jules Schrader Character: Polly Holiday/Chorus Bio: Jules is a musician/actor who has recently set down roots in Chicago. She has spent the last 10 years performing at the Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire, serving as Queen Elizabeth for the last four. Jules is so excited to make her Chicago debut with Stage Left! Jules wants to thank her husband, Jeff, for his endless support and love. Julesschrader.bandcamp.com Favorite Thing About the Show/Chicago: My fave thing is how silly this cast is and how open and creatively adventurous this whole process has been. It’s a solid group of weirdos who rock. :) Name: Jennifer Mohr Character: Ma Streeter Bio: Jennifer Mohr (Ma) is so excited to be performing with Stage Left. She has spent the last nine years as a teaching artist and performing with various theatres in Chicago including Chicago Shakespeare, First Folio, Birch House Immersive, Artemisia, Babes with Blades, Idle Muse, and Midsommer Flight. She is a proud ensemble member at Idle Muse Theatre Company, as well as with Laughingstock Theatre, performing Commedia del'Arte around Chicago! Jennifer is also an enthusiastic artistic affiliate of Babes with Blades Theatre Company. Eat the Rich! Favorite Thing About the Show/Chicago: My favorite part of the play is absolutely watching the giant tumble of a fight every night! My favorite thing about Chicago is how unabashed the entire city is. And those little neighborhood bars where the bartenders know everyone's name. Name: Andrew J. Pond Character: George “Cap” Streeter Bio: Andrew J. Pond (He/him) moved to Chicago in 2002 from South Florida … for the weather. He is Artistic Director and a founding member of Eclectic Full Contact Theatre and has appeared in many of their productions. Along with his onstage work at several Chicagoland theatres, he is an Elvis impersonator, juggler, magician, balloon artist, plays with puppets, does Muppet voices, performs stand-up comedy, and has a degree in philosophy so he can use words like “epistemology” at parties. Thanks to Jessica, his partner in all things. Favorite Thing About the Show/Chicago: My favorite part of the show has to be the moments of barely controlled chaos, like the Chicago song, the joust, etc. My favorite thing about Chicago is the fact it’s a massive city made up of comfortable neighborhoods so you get all the benefits of a world-class city without feeling like a drop in a giant, anonymous ocean. Name: Maya Paletta Character: Chorus Bio: Maya Paletta (That One Over There, aka TOOT) is so excited to mount this production with Stage Left! Recent Chicago theatre credits include The Mannequins Ball (Trap Door Theatre), Dragons Love Tacos (Northbrook Theatre TYA), and Dames at Sea (Citadel Theatre). Favorite Thing About the Show/Chicago: Favorite thing about Chicago: It's a toss up between our vibrant and thriving store-front theater scene and our giant reflective bean Name: Jillian Leff Character: Chorus Bio: Jillian Leff (she/her) (Chorus) is a Chicago-based actor, playwright, and stage combat nerd who is excited to be working with Stage Left for the first time. As an actor, she has worked around the city with companies such as Idle Muse Theatre Co.
